Morgane Pairain

Morgane is a contemporary painter based in Carshalton, South London (UK). She takes her inspiration from her emotions, surroundings, as well as her upbringing in France and Morocco, and her frequent travels.
Her practice is rooted in intuitive exploration, allowing the materials to guide the process and shape the outcome. It is a search for emotional resonance that explores the spectrum between abstraction and representation to investigate the subtle relationships between visual elements and human experience. This results in often semi-abstract works that evoke personal memories and landscapes or the capture of an emotion within a pose.
Materiality plays a central role in her work. She enjoys experimenting with textures, layering techniques, and a limited palette to create tactile surfaces that invite touch and reflection. She often blends materials to explore the compatibility of forms, shapes, and colours.
Her aim is to bring the viewers along with her on a discovery of feelings and moods and enabling the viewer to reflect on life’s wonders and struggles.
Morgane is currently studying Art & Design at West Dean College but she is mostly self-taught and has been drawing and painting since a very young age. She says: “As a child, I always preferred to draw rather than use words, something I have kept with me all my life. I enjoy helping people see things differently through visuals.”
